D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic Denies Alleged NELFUND Fraud, Invites NANS for Independent Audit

The management of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, has dismissed allegations of fraud relating to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing claims made by the National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Babatunde Akinteye, as false, misleading, and without factual basis.
The institution’s management reacted to a viral statement and video attributed to the NANS President, which alleged the existence of NELFUND-related irregularities within the Polytechnic.
In a statement issued by the management, the institution maintained that it has consistently upheld the principles of integrity, transparency, accountability, and academic excellence since its establishment.
According to the statement, the Polytechnic would never engage in any activity capable of undermining the objectives of the Federal Government’s educational intervention programmes, including the NELFUND scheme.
The management emphasized its commitment to due process, ethical conduct, and responsible administration, noting that all institutional operations are guided by established regulations and best practices.
The institution further reaffirmed its support for the educational reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the developmental initiatives of the Ogun State Government under Governor Dapo Abiodun, particularly through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
It stated that as a beneficiary and stakeholder in government-led educational reforms, the Polytechnic remains committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and quality service delivery in the education sector.
The management also highlighted the role of the institution’s Governing Council, led by Ambassador Toye Okanlawon, in ensuring strict oversight of administrative and financial processes.
According to the statement, the Governing Council has continued to strengthen accountability mechanisms and ensure prudent management of resources in line with regulatory requirements and global best practices.
In a move aimed at addressing public concerns, the Polytechnic invited the NANS leadership and other relevant stakeholders to undertake an independent fact-finding mission, including a forensic audit of all NELFUND-related records and transactions within the institution.
The management expressed confidence that such an exercise would confirm its compliance with all applicable guidelines and procedures governing the loan scheme.
While condemning the circulation of unverified information capable of damaging the reputation of individuals and institutions, the Polytechnic urged members of the public to disregard the allegations.
The institution reiterated that the claims contained in the viral statement and video are unfounded and maintained that it remains focused on its mandate of providing quality technical and vocational education while upholding the values of transparency, accountability, and service to humanity.
The management assured students, parents, staff, and stakeholders of its continued commitment to institutional excellence and responsible governance.
