Tinubu’s Son Sparks Debate After Receiving Guard of Honor at Ogun Event

A recent event in Ogun State has ignited intense debate on social media, with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the centre of the controversy. The event, organized by the CityBoy Movement under Seyi’s coordination, featured a ceremonial salute from individuals dressed in military attire.

While some have criticized the display, calling it an “aberration” and questioning its legitimacy, others have defended Seyi, stating that the individuals involved were not actual soldiers but rather recreational cadets or ceremonial soldiers. The Coalition of Lagos Indigenous Youth has also weighed in on the controversy, releasing a statement in support of Seyi and denouncing attacks against him by certain groups.

The coalition described Seyi as a “proud and industrious son of Lagos” and expressed their willingness to back him if he were to run for the office of Governor of Lagos State. This development highlights the intense scrutiny Seyi faces as the son of the President, with many Nigerians closely watching his actions and public appearances.

The debate has sparked a range of reactions, with some social media users questioning the legitimacy of the guard of honour and others defending Seyi’s right to receive the ceremonial salute. As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how this will impact Seyi’s public image and potential future political ambitions.

Interestingly, the event was not attended by most Ogun youth party faithful, with only Lagos boys in attendance. Some Ogun youths have criticized the Lagos boys, stating that their arrogance was responsible for President Tinubu’s loss in the 2023 presidential elections in the state to the Labour Party.
