Odeda Legislative Council Commends Adeyemo as Five-Day Oversight Reveals Widespread Development Across 10 Wards

ODEDA – The Odeda Local Government Legislative Council has lauded the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Dr. Folasade Adeyemo, for the numerous developmental projects being executed across the ten wards of the local government.

The commendation followed a five-day oversight tour led by the Leader of the Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Adeyemi, during which lawmakers inspected completed and ongoing projects spread across the council area.

The oversight exercise covered several sectors, including education, rural infrastructure, water supply, markets, and public facilities.

In Ward 1 (Odeda), the lawmakers inspected the renovation of Ogboye Primary School in Olugbo.

In Ward 2, they visited Itesi and Odelaitan Village, where the renovation of two classroom blocks and the Headmaster’s office was ongoing.

The delegation also inspected the construction of a culvert in Mogan, Ward 3 (Olodo).

Speaking during the inspection, the Councillor representing Olodo Ward and Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Ebenizer Semilore, praised the council chairman for prioritising projects that directly impact the lives of rural residents.

“The construction of this culvert is a major intervention that will improve accessibility and enhance the socio-economic activities of our people. We appreciate Hon. Dr. Folasade Adeyemo for her commitment to grassroots development and for ensuring that no ward is left behind,” Semilore said.

In Ward 4 (Alagbagba), the council inspected the ongoing drilling of a motorised borehole, while in Ward 5, a completed motorised borehole project was inspected.

At Ward 6 (Osiele-Alakila), the lawmakers examined a completed culvert project aimed at improving road connectivity.

The team also visited Odeda Local Government Primary School, Atoku, Ward 7 (Obantoko), where two newly constructed classroom blocks with an administrative office, chairs and tables were inspected. They equally assessed another completed two-block classroom project with furniture at OLG Primary School, Apete.

In Ward 8 (Alabata), the legislators inspected the construction of a 10-open-stall modern market.

The oversight team proceeded to Ward 9 (Obete) to assess ongoing developmental projects before concluding the tour in Ward 10 (Opeji), where the renovation of two classroom blocks with furniture and the construction of a solar-powered borehole were inspected.

The council also noted that each of the ten wards has benefited from the installation of 12 solar-powered street lights, while renovation works are ongoing at both the Legislative Council Office and the Chairman’s Office at the local government secretariat.

Chairman of the House Committee on Works, Hon. Segun Kuyoro, described the projects as evidence of purposeful leadership and prudent management of public resources.

“What we have seen across the ten wards clearly demonstrates that the chairman is committed to delivering the dividends of democracy. The projects are impactful, people-oriented and evenly distributed. This is commendable and worthy of emulation,” Kuyoro stated.

Also speaking, the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Adeyemi, expressed satisfaction with the quality and spread of the projects, assuring residents that the Legislative Council would continue to provide effective oversight to ensure value for public funds.

“Our constitutional responsibility is to monitor government projects, and from what we have inspected, we are impressed. Hon. Dr. Folasade Adeyemo has demonstrated genuine commitment to the development of Odeda Local Government. We encourage her to sustain the momentum for the benefit of our people,” Adeyemi said.

Residents in several communities also applauded the council chairman for bringing development closer to the grassroots.

A resident of Olugbo, Mrs. Bose Adekunle, said the renovation of the primary school would provide a more conducive learning environment for pupils.

“For many years, we appealed for the renovation of this school. Today, our children have a better place to learn. We sincerely appreciate the local government chairman,” she said.

Similarly, Mr. Ismail Azeez, a resident of Opeji, commended the construction of the solar-powered borehole.

“Access to clean water has been a challenge for years. This project has brought relief to many families. We are grateful for this intervention,” he said.

The five-day oversight exercise reaffirmed the Legislative Council’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective monitoring of projects aimed at improving the welfare of residents across Odeda Local Government.
