Obafemi-Owode LG Chairman, Ogunsola Commissions Transformer, Ends 12-Year Blackout in Ototo Lukoye Community

Residents of Ototo Lukoye community in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State, are celebrating the end of a 12-year electricity outage following the commissioning of a 33KVA transformer by the council chairman, Ambassador Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Amb. Ogunsola described Obafemi Owode as one of the largest local governments in the Southwest, noting that the sheer scale of the council’s responsibilities demands wisdom in distributing infrastructure equitably. He disclosed that the local government oversees 46 Community Development Committees, over 2,000 Community Development Associations, and 12 political wards.

“Our administration inherited 161 public primary schools. Today, more than seven schools are currently enjoying the construction of new classrooms, including a flagship project at Maba featuring two blocks of ten classrooms, an office and a store, driven by the high number of pupils,” Ogunsola stated.

He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for donating transformers to the council and pledged sustained collaboration with the state government. Ogunsola, who was welcomed with a cheerful reception by pupils of St. James Primary School, urged residents to support the government by paying their rates and levies, assuring them that the delivery of democratic dividends would remain even across all sectors and communities.

Earlier, the Chairman of Ototo Lukoye Community Development Association, Chief Julius Ogundare, recalled that the community had languished in darkness for over 12 years. He expressed gratitude for Amb. Ogunsola’s intervention, which he said included facilitating the donation of a new transformer and providing both moral and financial backing for its energization.

Chief Olubori Ogundimu thanked the government for heeding the community’s plea, noting that the area had grown significantly in population. He reaffirmed the residents’ continued support for the administration.

Also speaking, Chief Saubana Ganiu, the Baale of Oke-mosan, lauded the council chairman for leaving his mark across the area, describing him as exceptional. He, however, appealed for additional amenities such as a primary healthcare centre, potable water, and improved roads.

In his vote of thanks, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Kayode Dipeolu, revealed that Egbeda Ward, one of the council’s 12 wards, had received three of the five transformers officially disbursed by the state government, alongside other infrastructure benefits.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mr. Bakare Bolaji, Director of Administration at the Ministry of Special Duties, Okemosan, Abeokuta.
