Ogun Police Rescue Abducted Truck Driver, Neutralise Two Kidnappers, Recover AK-47 Rifles

The Ogun State Police Command has rescued an abducted professional truck driver and neutralised two suspected kidnappers during a gun duel along the Papalanto-Ilaro Road in the state.
The Command also recovered two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of live ammunition, two mobile phones and ₦2 million suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities.
The victim was reportedly abducted at about 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, around the Ajibawo area of Ibese, Ogun State.
Following the incident, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit commenced an intelligence-led operation to track the abductors and secure the victim’s release.
The operation led the operatives to a suspected kidnappers’ hideout along the Papalanto-Ilaro Road, where they engaged members of the gang in a gun battle.
Two suspected members of the gang were killed during the encounter, while other suspects reportedly escaped with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.
A search of the hideout after the gun battle resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of live ammunition, two mobile phones and ₦2 million.
The bodies of the deceased suspects have been deposited at a morgue for autopsy, while the police said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for its courage and professionalism during the operation.
Ojajuni assured residents that the Command would continue to sustain its onslaught against kidnappers and other violent criminals across the state.
He also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report anyone suspected of seeking medical attention for gunshot injuries.
The police said such information could assist investigators in tracking down members of the gang who escaped during the operation.
The latest operation underscores the Command’s renewed efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks and strengthen security across Ogun State.
