Ipokia LG Chairman, Hon. Avoseh RMRDC Explore Agricultural Partnership to Boost Farming
...Discussions Focus on Seedling Distribution, Mechanised Farming, and Grassroots Engagement

The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, on Monday, 28 July 2025, welcomed a delegation from the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), led by the Ogun State Coordinator, Mr. Rabiu Basiru Olawale. The meeting aimed to explore collaborative opportunities to boost agricultural development and support local farmers in the region.

Key discussion areas included sustainable raw materials utilisation, the distribution of improved seedlings, and strategies to enhance agricultural innovation at the grassroots level. The RMRDC team highlighted the Council’s mandate to promote developing and optimal use of Nigeria’s raw materials through policy support, research, and field programmes.
A major focus was placed on the agency’s seed multiplication initiatives, which currently facilitate the production of key crops such as tomato, plantain, cashew, kolanut, soybean, cassava, maize, and ginger, among others.
In his remarks, Hon. Avoseh commended the initiative and stressed the need for practical support to farmers through improved inputs, mechanised farming, and better access to structured markets. He called for early coordination ahead of the planting season to ensure timely resource distribution and maximum productivity.
Additionally, the Chairman advocated for translating programme materials into local languages, particularly Yoruba, to ensure farmers fully understand the benefits and processes of federal and state-led agricultural initiatives.
This collaboration aligns with the agricultural transformation goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises food security, job creation, and sustainable rural development. It also supports the ISEYA development blueprint of the Ogun State Government under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON.
Further planning sessions are expected as both parties work towards implementing the partnership on a larger scale.
