BREAKING: Ogun Police Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers, Recover AK-47 After Rescue of Okun Owa Prince

The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping, neutralising two suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of the Prince of Okun Owa, Prince Idris, and recovering an AK-47 rifle, mobile phones, a suspected ransom bag, and other incriminating exhibits.
Prince Idris was abducted on June 30, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m. after armed men stormed his residence in Okun Owa and whisked him away.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate deployment of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit alongside other tactical teams to rescue the victim and track down the perpetrators.
After days of sustained intelligence-led operations and coordinated tactical pressure, the prince was rescued unharmed on July 3, 2026.
In a follow-up operation based on credible intelligence, operatives stormed the Agoro/Imodi axis, where they encountered members of the kidnapping gang. The suspects reportedly opened fire on the police, resulting in a fierce gun battle.
The police overpowered the gang, killing two of the suspected kidnappers, while others escaped into the surrounding area with gunshot injuries.
Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine, two mobile phones, a bag suspected to have been used for collecting ransom, and other exhibits believed to be connected to the kidnapping operation.
The bodies of the two suspects have been deposited at a government morgue for autopsy, while police say efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing gang members and recover additional weapons and exhibits.
The latest operation marks another significant success in the Ogun State Police Command’s ongoing crackdown on kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
