Discipline, Orderliness Top Agenda as AMORAN Holds Extended State Executive Meeting

Abeokuta –In an effort to reinforce discipline and promote responsible conduct among its members, the Articulated Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN), Ogun State Chapter, held an extended State Executive Meeting on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

The meeting, which took place at the union’s state secretariat in Abeokuta, brought together the State Executive Council and branch chairmen from across the state. Discussions centred on upholding safety standards, maintaining orderliness, and strengthening the union’s commitment to peace and professionalism in motorcycle operations.
In his keynote address, the State Chairman of AMORAN, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya, charged members to uphold the highest standards of discipline while discharging their duties. He warned against any form of misconduct that could undermine the union’s reputation and urged riders to prioritise safety and lawful behaviour at all times.
“As ambassadors of this union, we must conduct ourselves responsibly. Reckless riding, violence, and disregard for traffic laws will not be tolerated. Our collective image depends on how we represent AMORAN in public,” Otunba Sokoya stated.
The chairman also emphasised the need for members to contribute to the peace and stability of Ogun State, commending Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his administration’s efforts in fostering a secure and progressive environment.
“We are grateful to His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his continuous support to our union. The relative peace we enjoy today is a result of good governance, and we must do our part to sustain it. Let us distance ourselves from any act that could disrupt the harmony in our state,” he added.
The meeting further highlighted the importance of regular training for riders on road safety and conflict resolution. Branch chairmen were directed to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations and to report any misconduct for disciplinary action.
As part of its ongoing efforts, AMORAN pledged to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to curb illegal operations and promote a culture of responsibility among commercial motorcycle riders in the state.
The union reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Ogun State Government and other stakeholders to enhance the transport sector’s efficiency while ensuring the welfare of its members.
With this renewed focus on discipline and orderliness, AMORAN aims to set a standard for responsible motorcycle operations in Nigeria.
