LOYAMP Backs Senator Adeola’s 2027 Governorship Bid, Rejects Indigeneity Claims

The League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP) has declared its support for the governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, describing him as a competent and visionary leader capable of delivering purposeful governance.

Speaking during a media chat held in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area, on Sunday, the Founder, Convener and National President of LOYAMP, Elhadj (Otunba) Abu-Satar Idowu Hamed, said the association remained committed to its long-standing advocacy for the emergence of a qualified candidate from Ogun West as governor of the state.
Hamed said LOYAMP comprises veteran journalists, publishers, editors-in-chief and media professionals who have consistently promoted equity, fairness and justice through responsible journalism and constructive advocacy.
He disclosed that the association had, over the years, consulted prominent national leaders, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Ogun State Governor, Senator Gbenga Daniel, among others, to canvass support for the Ogun West governorship agenda.
According to him, Senator Adeola’s return to Ogun West after representing Lagos West in the Senate has attracted significant infrastructural development, educational interventions and empowerment programmes that have positively impacted residents across the senatorial district.
LOYAMP also dismissed renewed debates over Senator Adeola’s ancestry, insisting that he is a bona fide indigene of Ilaro from the Pahayi family and that the matter had long been settled.
The association described the controversy as politically motivated and urged political actors to focus on issues of governance, competence and development rather than what it termed unnecessary distractions.
“The people of Ogun State deserve issue-based campaigns centred on performance, vision and the ability to improve the lives of the people,” Hamed said.
He maintained that Senator Adeola’s developmental record should remain the basis for assessing his governorship ambition, calling on residents of Ogun West and the entire electorate in Ogun State to support his 2027 bid.
LOYAMP expressed confidence that Adeola’s emergence as governor would not only provide effective leadership but also mark the historic emergence of the first governor from Ogun West since the creation of Ogun State.
Several stakeholders who attended the media chat also endorsed the senator’s aspiration and rejected allegations made against him by Hakeem Adedeji, describing the claims as false, misleading and lacking factual basis.
The speakers argued that rather than engage in campaigns capable of dividing Yewaland, political actors should unite behind the region’s quest to produce the next governor of Ogun State.
Among those present at the event were the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yewa South Local Government, Hon. Kayode Salako; Otunba Tunji Idowu; Chief (Mrs.) Omolara Akintade; Alhaji Rafiu Ogundipe (Alagbada); Mr. Sina Akanni of Yewa Frontier FM; Mr. Angel Ajayi of S’Okedile FM, as well as other party leaders and community stakeholders.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising support for Senator Adeola throughout the 2027 electoral process while urging journalists to uphold professionalism through balanced, factual and responsible reporting.
