Traffic Officials Sensitise AMORAN Riders on Safety Ahead of Yuletide Rush

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) and the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) have visited the secretariat of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) in Abeokuta to sensitize commercial motorcycle riders on road safety ahead of the festive rush.

The meeting, which took place at an extended state executive session of AMORAN, was aimed at urging riders to strictly adhere to traffic regulations throughout the festive season.

During the engagement, riders were cautioned against carrying more than one passenger, riding under the influence of alcohol, and operating motorcycles without proper documentation. Officials also advised them to ensure their motorcycles are duly registered and clearly identifiable to enhance safety and accountability on the roads.

The Acting Commander-General of TRACE, Commander Omonayago E.A., and the Ogun State Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, Engr. Gbenga Ademeyin, emphasized the importance of observing safety precautions before, during, and after the celebrations.

They noted that an accident-free festive period is achievable if all road users exercise caution and obey traffic laws. The officials commended AMORAN members for their orderly conduct and improved compliance on the roads.

While pledging continued collaboration with the union, both agencies warned that any commercial motorcycle operator caught overloading, riding recklessly, or violating traffic regulations would face sanctions.

In his response, the Ogun State Secretary of AMORAN, Comrade Kamal Oluwatoyin Kelani, thanked the agencies for the timely visit and assured them that the unionโ€™s leadership would enforce strict compliance with traffic rules among its members.

Also speaking, the Deputy Chairman of AMORAN, Comrade Kazeem Lawal, commended TRACE and VIO for their proactive approach and pledged the unionโ€™s commitment to promoting discipline and adherence to road safety regulations.

The sensitization team included Commander Omonayago E.A., Engr. Gbenga Ademeyin, Deputy Chief VIO Engr. Odunaya Adekunle, and Engr. Omisakin Babatunde, a director from the Ogun State Ministry of Transportation.
