Ipokia LG Boss, Johnson Avoseh Inaugurates Committee on Food, Nutrition, Charges Members on Impactful Service

The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, popularly known as Cornerstone, has commended the Federal Government for its initiative in establishing a committee on food and nutrition, stressing its importance in improving public health.
Hon. Avoseh gave the commendation on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, during the inauguration of the Local Government Committee on Food and Nutrition at the council secretariat.
The council boss emphasised that the significance of food and nutrition in human health cannot be overstated, which is why the Federal Government has prioritised it. He urged the newly inaugurated committee to work diligently to ensure a positive impact on the health of residents in the council area.
Speaking on the committee’s objectives, the Health Secretary of Ipokia LG Health Authority, Dr. Adebayo Akindele, explained that the body is tasked with enhancing and supporting nutritional activities within the local government.
Key responsibilities include:
– Integrated management of acute malnutrition in children under five years.
– Micronutrient deficiency control.
– Nutrition interventions for school-age children, adolescents, and the elderly.
– Maternal, infant, and young child feeding programs.
The committee comprises the following members:

The LG Education Secretary, Alhaja Fausat Oduntan, was represented by Mr. Makinde Mobolaji.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Avoseh charged the committee to be proactive in implementing programs that will curb malnutrition and improve the well-being of residents, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
The event ended with a renewed commitment from the committee members to deliver on their mandate and support the local government’s health and nutrition agenda.
