Ipokia Local Government Bolsters Community Safety Through Collaborative Security Meeting

The Ipokia Local Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing community safety and security following a crucial meeting of the Peace and Security Committee held on May 21, 2025, at the Ipokia Local Government Secretariat. The gathering brought together key stakeholders to address pressing security concerns and reinforce collaborative efforts to safeguard residents.

The meeting featured strong participation from heads of security agencies, including Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) from the Ipokia Police Station and Idiroko Area Command. Also in attendance were representatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, and the Social Orientation and Safety Corps (SOSAFE CORPS).

Traditional and religious leaders played a pivotal role in the discussions, with HRM Oba Dr. Yisa Sola Adeniyi Olaniyan, Orijajoogun I, Oshigin II, the Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom, lending his voice to the deliberations. The Chief Imam of Ipokia Central Mosque and a representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ipokia Local Government Chapter were also present, alongside the Zonal Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), underscoring a unified approach to tackling security challenges.

During the session, security agencies provided detailed briefings on the current security situation, highlighting operational and logistical challenges. The committee engaged in extensive discussions, proposing actionable solutions to mitigate risks and reaffirming its dedication to creating a secure environment where residents can live without fear.

The Chairman of Ipokia Local Government emphasized the importance of synergy among all stakeholders in sustaining peace and security. He assured that the identified challenges would be promptly addressed through close collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community representatives.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to proactive measures aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents in Ipokia Local Government.
