Ogun 2027: Ijebus Should Repay Yewas, Says Onabanjo’s Daughter as Adeola Woos Ijebu Ode

IJEBU ODE — Madam Bukola Onabanjo, daughter of late Chief Bisi Onabanjo, the first executive governor of Ogun State, has said the 2027 governorship election offers the people of Ijebu an opportunity to repay the political support the Yewas gave her father in 1978 by supporting the APC governorship candidate from Yewa, Senator Solomon Adeola.

Onabanjo spoke during the APC flag bearer’s continuation stakeholders’ town hall meeting in Ijebu Ode. She said the foundation laid by her late father as governor would not have been possible without the support of the Yewa people during his election.

She called for massive Ijebu support for Senator Adeola in 2027, saying she was pleased that the Yewas were presenting a formidable candidate with an outstanding record in public service. She added that Adeola had demonstrated goodwill by embarking on major infrastructural projects in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area.

“I am happy that the time has come for the people of Ijebu to repay their debt to the people of Yewa in terms of political support for my father. Senator Adeola, the APC candidate, is the best candidate based on his antecedents of performance and being of Yewa extraction,” she was quoted as saying.

Other prominent Ijebu Ode indigenes who spoke in support of Onabanjo included Chief Agboola Alausa, head of the Olorituns of Ijebu Ode; Hon. Femi Ogunbanwo, APC candidate for Ijebu Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North Federal Constituency; Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga, former deputy governor of Ogun State; Otunba Dapo Okubadejo, Ogun State Commissioner for Finance; Hon. Rasaq Dadah, APC candidate for Ijebu Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North Federal Constituency; and Mr. Damilare Alebiosu, chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government Area.

Addressing the gathering, which included CDCs, CDAs, CAN, the League of Imams, NUT, NULGE, royal fathers, Baales and other civil society groups, Senator Adeola said he had embarked on 15 infrastructure projects in Ijebu Ode, including roads, a four-storey hospital building and renovation of the Ojude Oba Pavilion. He said more projects were coming for Ijebu Ode and immediately donated a transformer to a CDA.

Adeola called on the people to vote massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, describing the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda as beneficial to infrastructure, and urged them to elect all other APC candidates who would work with him and the President for continued progress and prosperity.

He said his 9-Pillar ITESIWAJU agenda for Ogun State would greatly factor in Ijebu Ode, with a promise to build on the solid foundation laid by Prince Abiodun for economic growth and prosperity.

The senator was accompanied to the meeting by Senator Lekan Mustapha, Director-General of the Ogun APC Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council; Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Balogun, APC deputy governorship candidate; Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu, Vice Director-General (Political) of the APC Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council; Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Hon. Laolu Olabimtan, State Commissioner for Budget and Planning; and Dr. Babatunde Adejare, Secretary of the APC Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council.

The statement was signed by Chief Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Senator Adeola CON and Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of the Ogun State APC Campaign Council, on November 7, 2026.
