Operation Kosaye: Abiodun Hails IGP Disu, Ogun and Lagos Police for Crushing Kidnappers

ABEOKUTA – Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu, for initiating the joint Ogun-Lagos security operation, Operation Kosaye, describing it as a proactive, intelligence-driven initiative that has significantly enhanced security across both states.
The Governor said the operation has recorded notable successes through coordinated security efforts that have seen operatives comb forests and criminal hideouts along the Ogun-Lagos corridor, neutralise armed criminals, arrest suspects and rescue kidnapped victims.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Governor Abiodun noted that the achievements recorded under Operation Kosaye have helped restore public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force while reinforcing the commitment of security agencies to safeguarding lives and property.
According to him, the sustained offensive against criminal elements has effectively made Ogun and Lagos States increasingly hostile to kidnappers, bandits and other violent criminals who had sought to exploit border communities as safe havens for their activities.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through the provision of logistics, operational resources and technology required to strengthen policing and improve security operations across the state.
He explained that the state government’s continued investment in security infrastructure, surveillance technology and operational mobility has complemented the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in maintaining peace, law and order.
Governor Abiodun also praised the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos States, CP Bode Ojajuni and CP Tijani Fatai, respectively, alongside officers and personnel participating in Operation Kosaye, for their professionalism, courage and dedication to duty.
He noted that their commitment and coordinated efforts have been instrumental in the successes recorded by the operation.
The Governor further described Operation Kosaye as a model of effective collaboration, intelligence sharing and inter-state cooperation in tackling emerging security challenges.
He stressed that criminal activities can only be effectively curtailed when security agencies work seamlessly across jurisdictional boundaries, adding that coordinated action remains critical in addressing contemporary security threats.
Abiodun urged other states across the federation to adopt similar collaborative security frameworks capable of denying criminals the opportunity to exploit state boundaries to evade law enforcement.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to public safety, the Governor emphasized that the protection of lives and property remains a cardinal objective of his government and pledged continued investment in logistics, technology and other operational resources needed to support security agencies.
He expressed confidence that with sustained collaboration among security stakeholders, Ogun State would continue to maintain its reputation as one of the safest states in the country.
