Thousands of youths under the aegis of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Movement in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Ogun State, on Wednesday staged a mega solidarity walk to galvanise support for the party and its candidates ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The exercise, which organisers described as a 5,000-Youth Mega Solidarity Walk, drew young people from the 21 wards of the constituency, with participants marching through major communities and markets in a demonstration of grassroots mobilisation and political solidarity.
The procession commenced at the Palace of the Olu of Itori, Oba Abdulfatai Akamo, where the participants received royal blessings before moving through Papalanto, Arigbajo and other parts of the constituency.
The colourful procession was characterised by music, dancing and chants of solidarity as youth groups and APC supporters moved through the communities.
Among those who participated in the walk were the APC candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye; Deputy Director-General of the Federal Constituency Campaign Council, Hon. Israel Jolaosho; Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth, Comrade Lamide Lawal; APC candidate for Ewekoro, Hon. Biodun Adeleye; and APC candidate for Ifo I, Hon. Ibrahim Amosu.
Other party leaders and stakeholders, including Hon. Kikelomo Delano and Hon. Idris Kushimo, also joined the procession.
The participants moved through Arigbajo Market, where Adeleye, Jolaosho and other party leaders interacted with residents and market women, while campaign materials were distributed.
The procession later passed through the entrance of Ifo Local Government, Abekoko, Iyana Coker and Ifo Main Market before extending to Fulham, Shoremekun Memorial Hospital and Vespa. The march eventually terminated at the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency Campaign Office of Hon. Adijat Adeleye.
Speaking at the conclusion of the exercise, Adeleye described the turnout as a demonstration of the strength, unity and determination of the people of Ifo/Ewekoro, particularly the youth.
She said the massive participation showed that young people were increasingly taking an active interest in the political affairs and future of the constituency.
Adeleye urged the youths to sustain the momentum generated by the walk by remaining organised, informed and actively involved in their communities.
She stressed that political participation should go beyond attending rallies and other campaign events, noting that sustained grassroots engagement was necessary to understand the concerns of the people and work collectively towards addressing them.
“We must strive to sustain this drive and continue to mobilise our people to come out en masse and vote for all our APC candidates. Our strength lies in our unity, our organisation and our ability to take this message of progress to every ward and community across Ifo/Ewekoro,” she said.
The APC candidate commended the youth leaders, party stakeholders and participants for their commitment and peaceful conduct throughout the exercise.
She also called for continued unity and coordinated grassroots mobilisation in support of APC candidates, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, Hon. Abiodun Adeleye, Hon. Ibrahim Amosu and Hon. Fola Salami.
She said the energy and enthusiasm demonstrated during the solidarity walk should be sustained across the 21 wards of the constituency as the party intensifies its mobilisation ahead of the elections.
