OKUN-OWA — The people of Okun-Owa Community in Ward 3, Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State, and neighbouring communities have expressed appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, following the commencement of reconstruction work on the long-neglected Okun-Owa–Ijebu-Ode Road, through Agoro and Ikangba.

The community described the commencement of the project as a significant development that would bring relief to residents, commuters, traders and business owners who have endured the challenges associated with the poor condition of the road.
The reconstruction follows the governor’s earlier identification of the road as one of his priority projects. Contractors have since been mobilised to the site, with construction work reportedly progressing.
Speaking on behalf of the community, the Councillor representing Ward 3, Hon. (Amb.) Hammed Yusuf Moboluwaduro (HYM), commended Governor Abiodun for responding to the people’s longstanding demand for the rehabilitation of the road.
Hon. Yusuf also acknowledged the contributions of political leaders, elected representatives and other stakeholders whose advocacy, according to him, helped bring the project to fruition.
Those commended included the Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Dr. Babatunde Oyetola Diya; the member representing the constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukman Olalekan Adeleye; the Governor’s Liaison Officer (GLO), Hon. Ladejobi Shuaib; and the member representing Ijebu-Ode, Odogbolu and Ijebu North-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Barr. Olufemi Adeleke Ogunbanwo.
He also extended appreciation to APC leaders, party faithful and other stakeholders in the area for their respective contributions towards the actualisation of the project.
According to the councillor, the reconstruction of the road is expected to improve transportation, ease the movement of people and goods, facilitate commercial activities and promote socio-economic development across Okun-Owa and neighbouring communities.
He expressed optimism that the project would strengthen public confidence in the administration and encourage greater participation in community development initiatives.
Hon. Yusuf further described Governor Abiodun as a responsive leader who has demonstrated a willingness to listen to the concerns of the people and address their needs through development projects.
He expressed hope that the successful delivery of the road would further strengthen the relationship between the government and residents of the affected communities.
Expressing the community’s gratitude, the councillor said:
“Thank you, Sir, Omoba Adedapo Abiodun. We sincerely appreciate this remarkable gesture and assure you that the people of Okun-Owa and its environs will reciprocate this act of goodwill with continued support and solidarity.”
The community also expressed hope that the reconstruction would be completed on schedule, noting that the road, once rehabilitated, would provide lasting benefits to residents, commuters, traders and businesses along the corridor.
The commencement of the project has raised expectations among residents that improved road infrastructure will enhance connectivity and contribute to the growth and development of Okun-Owa and surrounding communities.
