Breaking: Suspected Armed Robber Beaten to Death in Sagamu

Tragedy struck in the Sagamu area of Ogun State as a suspected member of a five-man armed robbery gang, John Udo, was beaten to death by youths after being caught allegedly stealing a Lifan rubber motorbike valued at N1.2 million from one Emeka Ruben’s home.

According to the Ogun State Police Command, Udo was part of a group that invaded the Atayo Okeigbo community, Aruba Sagamu, around 2:00 AM on October 18, 2024. The suspects were caught by the youths following a distress call from the victim ¹.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that Udo was caught alongside 22-year-old Peter Ubong, and their operational motorcycle with registration number SGM 387 WB was seized. Three other suspects, Adaka, Stepen, and Jerssy, escaped with the stolen motorcycle.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing 15 solar streetlights and two other motorcycles from the community. Unfortunately, the mob’s severe beating resulted in Udo’s death, while Ubong is currently hospitalized.

The Ogun State Police Command is investigating the incident and working to apprehend the remaining suspects. The Command urges citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
