Ogun 2027: Yayi Pledges More Development Projects, Reaffirms Confidence in Deputy Governorship Candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has pledged to facilitate more developmental projects across the state, assuring residents that his commitment to infrastructure development would continue until the end of his tenure as Senator on May 29, 2027.
Adeola gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ meeting in Odogbolu Local Government Area, where he engaged representatives of Community Development Associations (CDAs), Community Development Committees (CDCs), the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the League of Imams, NULGE, NUT, road transport unions, market women associations, traditional rulers and other community leaders.
The senator maintained that his commitment to facilitating developmental projects across Ogun State was not driven by his ambition to become governor, insisting that his intervention in infrastructure development predated his governorship aspiration.
He said he would continue to attract projects aimed at improving the living conditions of residents and addressing the needs of communities, adding that more interventions would be based on requests and priorities presented by stakeholders during his ongoing town hall meetings across the state.
Adeola has facilitated hundreds of projects across Ogun Central, Ogun East and Ogun West in the last three and a half years, covering road construction, school buildings, primary healthcare centres, hospitals, modern markets, ICT and intensive care centres, police stations, solar streetlights, solar mini-grids and transformers, alongside large-scale empowerment programmes.
Calling on the people to support his governorship ambition based on his track record, Adeola also reaffirmed his confidence in his choice of deputy governorship candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, an indigene of Odogbolu Local Government Area.
He described her as an accomplished private-sector operator and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, whose professional experience and business connections would contribute significantly to the development of Ogun State.
“My deputy, who is your daughter, is going to be active in the implementation of my 9-Pillar ITESIWAJU Agenda for the development of Ogun State. Her pedigree of running a successful private-sector organisation that is still ongoing is a plus for our plans in the areas of job creation, industrialisation and wealth creation,” Adeola said.
The APC governorship candidate urged residents of Odogbolu to support Governor Dapo Abiodun for the Ogun East Senatorial seat, alongside other APC candidates, arguing that voting for the ruling party would ensure continuity and accelerate development across the state.
Speaking at the meeting, Adegunwa-Balogun expressed confidence in Adeola’s capacity to deliver on his promises, citing his verifiable achievements and record of facilitating projects.
She also pledged to complement his efforts when elected, noting that her experience in managing a private-sector organisation employing over 10,000 people would be valuable in advancing the state’s economic development, job creation and industrialisation.
Also speaking on behalf of traditional rulers, the Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Sikiru Kayode Okuribido, commended Adeola for his developmental interventions, comparing the senator’s achievements to projects often showcased by some state governors.
The monarch said the senator’s documented record in infrastructure development and empowerment had strengthened his confidence in supporting the governorship aspiration, adding that the major expectation of the people was for more projects to be attracted to Odogbolu.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Diya, thanked Adeola for facilitating five multi-million-naira projects in the area despite not representing the local government.
Diya also acknowledged the senator’s donation and installation of twelve 500KVA transformers across the local government, describing the interventions as significant contributions to the development of the area.
He assured Adeola of the people’s support for his governorship ambition and that of Adegunwa-Balogun as his running mate.
The meeting was attended by the APC State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi; Senator Lekan Mustapha, Director-General of the Ogun State APC Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council; Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu, Vice Chairman (Political) of the campaign council; and former Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun.
Other dignitaries included Hon. Telle Ogunjobi, Otunba Sina Ogunbambo, Hon. Kayode Oladele, Ogun State Commissioner at the Federal Character Commission; Hon. Femi Ogunbanwo, Hon. Rasaq Daddah, Rt. Hon. Remmy Hassan, Rt. Hon. Tola Banjo, Prince Segun Seriki and Hon. Tope Tokoya, among other political leaders and stakeholders.
The meeting formed part of Adeola’s ongoing engagements with stakeholders across Ogun State as he seeks support for his 2027 governorship ambition.
