Abiodun Commends DSS DG, IGP Over Rescue of 10 Kidnap Victims, Vows Ogun Will Not Be Safe Haven for Criminals

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi, MON, and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Ridwan Disu, for their contributions to the successful rescue of 10 passengers abducted by suspected kidnappers at Orita Fufu, Awa-Ijebu, in Ijebu North-East Local Government Area of the state.

The victims, who were abducted on November 3 while travelling in a commercial vehicle, regained their freedom unharmed on November 7 following coordinated security operations.

Abiodun particularly praised the DSS Director-General for providing critical intelligence and sophisticated security equipment that supported the tracking of the kidnappers and facilitated the rescue operation.

The governor also applauded the Inspector-General of Police for his prompt directives and intervention, which mobilised the Ogun State Police Command and other security operatives to intensify efforts towards securing the victims’ release.

In a statement, Abiodun declared that his administration would not allow kidnappers and other criminal elements to turn any part of Ogun State into a safe haven for criminal activities.

He assured residents that the government was intensifying its security efforts, warning that individuals and groups threatening the safety of residents and commuters would be relentlessly pursued until they were brought to justice.

The governor further called on residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information about suspicious persons, movements and activities within their communities.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with security agencies and providing the necessary support and resources to protect lives and property across the state.

Abiodun also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives, stressing that collective responsibility, community participation and prompt information-sharing remained critical to preventing crime and sustaining peace.

He maintained that his government would continue to work closely with relevant security agencies to ensure that Ogun State remains safe for residents, businesses and travellers.
