Traders in Mowe Market Rally Against Unjust Levies: Appeal to Ogun State Government for Support

Traders at Mowe Market in the Obafemi Owode Local Government of Ogun State are rallying against unjust levies imposed on them, urging the Ogun State Government to intervene and protect their commercial interests. Led by the Babaloja of the market, Otunba Nurudeen Aina Alowonle, the traders voiced their concerns during a peaceful protest within the market premises in Mowe.

Mowe Market serves as a vital hub for commerce in the Obafemi Owode Local Government area, sustaining numerous petty traders who rely on it for their livelihoods. However, the imposition of exorbitant levies by certain individuals, purportedly representing authorities from the state capital of Abeokuta but lacking official backing from the state government, has disrupted their business activities and posed a threat to their economic well-being.

Otunba Nurudeen Aina Alowonle, speaking on behalf of the traders, exposed the individuals behind the unauthorized levies, highlighting their detrimental impact on the traders’ hard-earned income and their ability to conduct business freely within the market space. The traders beseeched the government to intervene and alleviate the financial burden imposed upon them, emphasizing their struggle to cope with the prevailing harsh economic conditions.

Furthermore, the traders expressed their unwavering support for the current administration in the state while urging prompt action to address their grievances and safeguard their commercial interests.
