A toddler and two young girls, on Tuesday, were killed instantly, while seven other Eid-el-Kabir festival returnees were critically injured after the commercial bus in which they were travelling somersaulted at Youth Camp, Mowe Ibafo, Ogun State.
An eye witness account said the bus, a white Mazda with Reg. No. FUM 109 ZD, coming from Ilorin, Kwara State and on its way to Lagos, suddenly developed an engine problem before somersaulting into a ditch, near Redeemed Youth Camp.
TRACE operatives at Mowe/Ibafo, police and FRSC operatives immediately got to the scene rescued the injured, two males and five females and rushed them to Idera hospital at Toll Gate, Sagamu, while the dead were also taken to Fakoya private morgue.
Responding, the TRACE Corps Commander/CEO ‘Seni Ogunyemi reiterated his appeal to the motorists to use their senses to determine speed limit while on the wheel.
He reminded motorists to ensure their vehicles are in proper order before they put them on the roads, adding that most of accidents were caused by carefree attitude of drivers to do what was necessary before embarking on journey.
