BREAKING: Ogun APC Suspends Former Governor Gbenga Daniel, Another Lawmaker Over Anti-Party Activities

ABEOKUTA – In a decisive move to enforce party discipline, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has ratified the indefinite suspension of two of its prominent members, former Governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Honourable Kunle Folarin, for alleged anti-party activities and gross misconduct.

The suspension was affirmed on Friday, August 19, by the State Working Committee (SWC) at a meeting chaired by the State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, and attended by sixteen members.

According to a statement issued by the party’s Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, the suspensions originated from the members’ respective wards in Sagamu Local Government Area. Ward 4 investigated Senator Daniel, while Ward 6 investigated Hon. Folarin.

The party revealed that both lawmakers failed to respond to written invitations from their Ward Disciplinary Committees, refused to submit a written defence, and were absent from scheduled hearings where they were meant to answer to the allegations.

In a more serious twist, the Committees reported that the embattled members attempted to “harass” and pressure other party members to withdraw petitions against them and not cooperate with the investigation. This alleged interference forced the Committees to take steps to “protect the integrity of the disciplinary process.”

After considering the reports, evidence, and the members’ non-cooperation, the Ward Committees recommended indefinite suspension, a decision that has now been fully ratified by the state leadership.

“This meeting demonstrates the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding its constitution,” the statement concluded.

This development signals a major crackdown within the Ogun APC and places the political future of the high-profile members in jeopardy pending further investigation.
