Ogun 2027: APC Tells PDP, Adebutu to Face Failure, Stop Blame Game Over INEC List
....Says party ready to contest against all eligible candidates

Abeokuta – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has called on the factional and crisis-ridden Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, to face their failure and stop what it described as a childish blame game against the APC over the non-listing of Adebutu in the final list of candidates for the Ogun State governorship election by INEC.
In a reaction to allegations by PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kayode Adebayo, and the candidate that APC pressure on INEC led to the non-listing, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Ogun State APC Campaign Council, Chief Kayode Odunaro, said the PDP should cut INEC some slack in its effort to deliver a credible election in line with the rule of law and the Electoral Act.
“APC and its candidates are contestants with other political parties’ candidates in the race towards 2027 under INEC as the umpire and regulatory body. How can anyone now attribute the failure of PDP to follow through on simple administrative procedures and adherence to rules of the game as pressure from APC on INEC?” Odunaro said.
He noted that other candidates from other states suffered the same fate as the factional PDP in Ogun State for similar non-adherence to the law, adding that the “nationally comatose PDP” should stop blaming APC and its flagbearer, Senator Solomon Adeola.
Odunaro said the APC and Adeola are ready to contest against any candidate certified by INEC, but added that it would be a waste of time and energy to focus on a candidate and party the umpire refused to list as a participant.
“Our stand on this is that APC and its candidate for the governorship race is campaigning to win based on proven and verifiable performance, capacity, equity and justice with its 9-Point ITESIWAJU Manifesto. We do not sympathize with any party or candidate that runs foul of the rules of the game. We all know what happens to a team fielding an ineligible player in a game of football. More like scoring an own goal to lose the match whatever other score on the scoreboard,” he stated.
The APC restated its readiness to test the overwhelming popularity of its flagbearer, Senator Adeola, at the February poll, stressing that Ogun State cannot be pigeonholed into what it called an “Iperu to Iperu Governor” represented by the PDP candidate in 2027.
The statement was signed by High Chief Kayode Odunaro, Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee, Ogun State APC Campaign Council, on 11th October, 2026.
