Ogun Family Raises Alarm Over Missing Teenager Who Left Home to Meet Cleric
The family of a teenager, Imole Ilesanmi, has raised the alarm over her whereabouts after she reportedly went missing in the Agbado area of Ogun State.
Imole reportedly left her family home at about 3pm on Sunday, September 20, 2026, and has not returned home since then.
According to Punch, Imole’s father said she was at home that afternoon when he asked her to prepare food for him. He later learnt that she intended to visit a cleric in the Popóshóla area after completing the cooking.
The father reportedly said Imole’s phone rang several times from Sunday until Monday morning, but nobody answered the calls.
Following her disappearance, the family reported the matter at the Agbado Police Station. A cleric identified simply as Alfa was reportedly arrested during the investigation but was later released.
The teenager’s father expressed concern over the release, saying the family believed the cleric might have useful information that could assist in locating Imole.
However, Alfa reportedly denied seeing Imole on the day she disappeared. He said she had told people that she was going to Popóshóla and not to his residence.
He also claimed that he was detained for a day and that a police officer stayed with him at his residence throughout Sunday, adding that the officer could confirm that Imole was not there.
Meanwhile, Imole’s sister, Ayomide Ilesanmi, said the family received information that the teenager was seen walking around the neighbourhood and appeared restless shortly before she disappeared.
According to Ayomide, the family initially waited for Imole to return after learning that she had gone towards Popóshóla and might have stopped at a friend’s residence. However, hours turned into days without any information about her whereabouts.
She said the family had visited churches and a mosque in search of prayers for Imole’s safe return and had also circulated her photographs and details online.
Ayomide, however, said the family had been confronted with several unverified reports, including false claims that Imole had been found dead.
The family is appealing to members of the public with credible information about Imole’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in the search for her.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, had yet to respond to enquiries about the incident as of the time of filing the report.
A senior police officer familiar with the case confirmed that the incident had been reported but declined to provide further details, saying he was not authorised to speak to the media.
