Ogun NUJ Mourns APC South-West Woman Leader, Yetunde Shakirat Adesanya
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, has commiserated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the demise of its South-West Zonal Woman Leader, Arabirin Yetunde Shakirat Adesanya.
Adesanya reportedly died after a prolonged illness at the age of 63.
In a statement issued by the Secretary of the Council, Bunmi Adigun, the Ogun NUJ described the late APC chieftain as a committed grassroots mobiliser, passionate advocate for women, and dedicated political leader whose contributions to democratic governance and women participation in politics would remain indelible.
The Union noted that the deceased distinguished herself through years of selfless service to the ruling party and the people of the South-West region, adding that her passing has created a huge vacuum within the political landscape and among women leaders across the country.
According to the statement, “Arabirin Yetunde Shakirat Adesanya was a devoted party stalwart whose dedication, loyalty, and commitment to service earned her admiration across political and social circles.”
The Council further sympathised with the leadership of the APC, members of the party’s women’s wing, the government and people of Lagos State, as well as the immediate family of the deceased, praying to God to grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the painful loss.
While praying for the peaceful repose of her soul, the Ogun NUJ urged political leaders and Nigerians to emulate the virtues of dedication, loyalty, and selfless service exemplified by the late APC woman leader throughout her lifetime.
