APC Caucus Eyes Experience: Why Hon. Musefiu Lamidi (ÈBÉ) is Positioned as a Frontline Contender for Senate Ogun West

Ado-Odo/Ota — As the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State signals a clear preference for ranking and tested leadership, the profile of Hon. Musefiu Lamidi Olatunji, popularly known as ÈBÉ, continues to rise as a defining figure within the Ogun West legislative landscape.

Political analysts and party stakeholders suggest that Hon. Musefiu, who currently serves as the member representing Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency Two and Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, embodies the specific blend of grassroots credibility and institutional experience the party leadership is prioritising ahead of future electoral cycles.

A background check on the lawmaker reveals a career steeped in both public administration and community service. Born into the legacy of his father, Pa Olatunji Lamidi Ayinde (ÈBÉ), Hon. Musefiu’s political journey began decades ago on a different political platform, where he emerged as the sole Councillor for his area under the NCPN purely on the strength of his local popularity.

His academic and professional credentials include a background in Demography and Social Statistics from Obafemi Awolowo University, an MBA from LAUTECH, and a Master of Science in Housing and Urban Development from Lagos State University. His administrative exposure was further broadened by training stints in the United Kingdom and attendance at a Transparency International Conference in the United States.

However, it is his long-standing role within the APC structure in Ogun West that has positioned him as a central figure in the current political conversation. Party records confirm Hon. Musefiu served as the Coordinator for the APC registration exercise in Ogun West in 2014 and was the pioneer coordinator for the Yayi for Senate movement, a campaign widely credited with laying the groundwork for the current push for Ogun West governorship.

Within the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Musefiu is categorised as a ranking member with substantial oversight experience. During his first term, he chaired the House Committee on Public Accounts, a role that tasked him with scrutinising government expenditure and enforcing fiscal discipline across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). In his current capacity leading Finance and Appropriation, he remains at the nexus of legislative governance, shaping the state’s fiscal policy and budget implementation.

Supporters of the lawmaker argue that his tenure as Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government in 1999 remains a reference point for conflict resolution, particularly his role in mediating long-standing communal disputes across Ota, Igbesa, and surrounding Awori communities—efforts that earned him the traditional title of Jagunmolu Gbabaniyi of Aworiland.

Political observers note that the lawmaker’s profile aligns seamlessly with recent directives from the APC Caucus, which has publicly emphasised a zero-tolerance policy for inexperience and disorder within its ranks.

In a political climate where the Ogun West Senatorial District seeks to consolidate its position with candidates capable of delivering immediate results, stakeholders within the party say Hon. Musefiu presents a case of continuity over experimentation.

“He is not learning governance—he has lived it,” a close associate of the lawmaker noted in a recent statement. “He meets the moment with experience, stability, and a deep connection to the grassroots. He fits the requirement.”

As internal party consultations continue ahead of the 2027 general elections, Hon. Musefiu Lamidi Olatunji (ÈBÉ) remains a prominent name in discussions concerning Ogun West’s next phase of political representation.
