Lawmaker Hails Yayi’s Consensus Endorsement as “Divine Confirmation,” Praises Abiodun’s Legacy Move

Abeokuta — Hon. Musefiu Olatunji Lamidi, the member representing Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency Two in the Ogun State House of Assembly, has described the recent consensus endorsement of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) as both a historic milestone and a “divine confirmation” of a decades-long political journey.

In a statement released on [Insert Date], Lamidi, who served as the first coordinator of the Yayi for Senate campaign in 2014, reflected on the movement’s origins in Owode, noting that the ambition was never solely about the Senate.
“At that historic meeting in Baba Ajibola’s residence, the elders made it clear: this journey was about a greater calling—the long-awaited dream of Ogun West to produce the Governor of Ogun State,” Lamidi stated.
The lawmaker acknowledged the challenges faced over the years, including moments of doubt, but noted that Senator Adeola’s persistence has transformed what “once looked like an unending project” into a present-day testimony.
Lamidi specifically commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he termed a rare political legacy. He asserted that the Governor’s role in facilitating a peaceful transition process places him on the path to achieving an “unprecedented legacy” by supporting a worthy successor from the Ogun West Senatorial District.
“By guiding this process, he is on the path of achieving a rare and unprecedented legacy in Ogun State—peacefully and purposefully handing over to his own successor,” Lamidi said. “This singular act will undoubtedly stand as a reference point in the political history of our dear state.”
The statement, which hailed Senator Adeola as a “preseason winner,” concluded with a prayer for strength and victory in the 2027 polls, with Lamidi referring to the Senator as “my incoming Governor of Ogun State.”
