BREAKING: Devastating Fire Rips Through Ogun Community, Leaving Trail of Destruction

An early morning petrol tanker fire along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has left residents of Ibafo, Ogun State, in a state of panic. The inferno, which occurred on Wednesday, destroyed multiple vehicles, houses, and livestock, and injured several individuals.





According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the tanker, loaded with petrol, fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to overturn in front of a commercial bank. The resulting spill ignited, spreading flames through a nearby drainage system and into a community approximately one kilometer away.
“It was a horrific scene,” said Wasiu, an eyewitness. “The tanker was swaying before it fell, and the fuel spill was scooped up by some individuals before the fire erupted.”
Tunde Adewumi, a resident of the affected community, described the chaos: “People were asleep when the fire spread, causing widespread panic. Thankfully, the drainage construction mitigated the damage.”
Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that the driver sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
