Senator Adeola Satisfied as Free JAMB Forms Initiative Benefits Over 4,200 Indigent Students

Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West) has expressed his satisfaction with the success of his free Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms initiative, which has benefited over 4,200 indigent students across Ogun West Senatorial District.

The initiative, aimed at providing financial support to underprivileged students seeking tertiary education, fell slightly short of its 5,000-target due to the closure of the JAMB registration portal on February 24 and persistent internet downtimes during the registration period. Despite these challenges, Senator Adeola remains optimistic that many of the beneficiaries will excel in the examination and gain admission into higher institutions.

In a report submitted to the senator’s office, the committee overseeing the project detailed the distribution of beneficiaries across the five local government areas (LGAs) in Ogun West: Ado Odo Ota, Yewa South, Yewa North, Ipokia, and Imeko Afon. The initiative also extended its reach to indigent students residing in the two other senatorial districts of Ogun State.

Mr. Scholar Ola Agbetokun, the coordinator of the initiative, highlighted the impact of the program, emphasizing its role in providing a stepping stone for students who might otherwise have been unable to pursue higher education due to financial constraints.

Senator Adeola, in his reaction, reiterated his commitment to educational advancement, stating, “It is satisfactory for me to achieve these huge numbers of my constituents and others who would have been denied the opportunity to access tertiary education. Education is the best legacy we can give to our people, and financial constraints should not stop our youth from achieving their dreams.”

The senator also announced a complementary initiative to the free JAMB forms project: a scholarship and bursary scheme for tertiary education students. The second edition of this scheme, targeting about 5,000 beneficiaries, is set to be implemented in the coming weeks.

This initiative underscores Senator Adeola’s dedication to empowering the youth through education and reducing the financial barriers that often hinder academic progress.
