Governor Abiodun Urges New Coronet Obas in Ipokia to Promote Unity and Development

Ogun State Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, has called on newly upgraded Coronet Obas in Ipokia Local Government Area to prioritize unity and development within their domains and across the state. The Governor’s charge was delivered on Thursday, 20th March 2025, during the presentation of staff of office to the new monarchs.
The newly installed Coronet Obas include HRM Oba John Afolabi Babajide, Olokoeye of Okoeye; HRM Oba (Dr.) Isaac Olaibi Ojo Akilolu, Onimede of Mede-Orile, Ogosa Ajegunle Kingdom; and HRH Oba Apostle Dr. Matthew Ademola Abisoye, Onitaege of Itaege. Governor Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Oladunjoye Hamzat, emphasized the importance of traditional institutions as a bridge between grassroots communities and the state government.
The Governor congratulated the new monarchs on their ascension to the throne and prayed for peace and prosperity during their reigns. He urged them to focus on fostering unity among their people, neighbouring communities, and the broader Yewa region while also driving development in their respective domains.
Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for approving the upgrade of Baales to Coronet Obas. He called on residents to support the new monarchs to ensure peace, progress, and development in the area. Avoseh also acknowledged the efforts of individuals who contributed to the successful emergence of the new Obas.
In their acceptance speeches, the new Coronet Obas thanked the Governor for their elevation and pledged to work tirelessly for the growth and development of their communities.
The event was graced by prominent traditional rulers, including the Onipokia of Ipokia Land, HRM Oba Yisa Adelakun Olaniyan; the Opo of Idosemo, Oba James Ajani Ajibola; and the Ogiyan of Alaari, Oba Isaacs Adeisha. Also in attendance were political leaders, principal career officers, community members, and individuals from various walks of life.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the history of Ipokia Local Government, as the new Coronet Obas assumed their roles with a mandate to unite and develop their communities under the guidance of the Ogun State Government.
