The Chairman, Transition Committee, Odeda Local Government, Hon Semiu Bola Lawal popularly known as Sembol has demonstrated his love for education by promising to pay the National Examination Council (NECO) registration fees of ten inmates of the Ibara Custodial Centre.
Hon. Lawal made the promise while playing host to the leadership of the Custodial Centre led by DCC Ayo Shaibu who paid him a courtesy visit on Tuesday 29th September, 2020 in his office.
The Council helmsman , who is an educationist explained that the gesture is his personal contribution to the inmates which is aimed at encouraging and empowering them to become a better person after serving their terms.
Hon Lawal who emphasised the importance of education in building a safer society noted that Custodial Centres are expected to play a reformative role in the the lives of the inmates. He, commended the team and the staff of the centre for demonstrating professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the team, DCC Ayo Shaibu emphasised that the purpose of their visit is to solicit for the support and collaboration of the local government in making life more meaningful for inmates of the Custodial Centre.
