Ogun First Lady, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun seeks more support for Girl Child

The first lady and the Wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, has appealed for more support for the girl-child to address gender inequality.
Mrs. Abiodun stated this during the commemoration of the 2022 International Day of the Girl-Child organised by her Pet Project, Ajose Foundation, the Ministry of Agriculture, Education, Science and Technology and ministry of women Affairs, held at the June 12 Cultural center Auditorium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
The governor’s wife said the girl-child was very dear to her and every opportunity to support, encourage and champion their cause would always be a priority.
“I believe in the future of our girls, and that is why a day like this gives me great joy to encourage our girl-children in Ogun State, letting them know that nothing can stand in the way of their progress.”
“This year, with the theme, “Our time is now – our rights, our future,” we are joining the global community to strengthen our commitment to creating avenues for more solutions to gender inequality.
“I am very hopeful and optimistic about the future of our country.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the International Day of the Girl (IDG). Since inception, we have seen an increased focus on issues that affect girls in Nigeria.
She highlighted some of the achievement of Dapo Abiodun’s administration
“In Ogun State, the administration of our governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has advanced the rights of the girl-child through scholarship programs and our homegrown school-feeding program.
Also, Ajose Foundation has also championed girls’ rights through tackling issues like child abuse, menstrual health and hygiene and ongoing mentoring programs.
She highlighted salient issues that bordered on the girl she noted that , there is still a lot that needs to be done to address lingering problems affecting girl children around the country.
