Gov Abiodun Installs New Olu of Akinlagun Camp in Odeda

…Commissioner Presents Staff of Office to Newly Coronated Monarch

The Ogun State Government has formally installed His Royal Highness, Oba Jimoh Akanji Fatola, as the Olu of Akinlagun-Biobaku Camp, Gbadewolu I, in Odeda Local Government Area of the state.

The historic installation ceremony, which attracted traditional rulers, government officials and other dignitaries, was held as the state government presented the Staff of Office to the newly coronated monarch.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Dapo Abiodun described the installation as historic, noting that Oba Akanji Jimoh Fatola is the first recognised Oba in the Camp-Osiele axis of Odeda Local Government.

The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Oladunjoye Hamzat, formally presented the Staff of Office to the monarch on behalf of the state government.

Hamzat, while congratulating the new monarch, clarified that the jurisdiction of Oba Akanji Jimoh Fatola remains within Akinlagun Camp.

He stressed that the monarch is not authorised to install or appoint any Baale outside the officially recognised jurisdiction of his Obaship, urging all traditional institutions to operate strictly within their approved boundaries.

The colourful ceremony was hosted by the Executive Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Dr. Folasade Adeyemo, who welcomed guests and dignitaries to the historic event.

Among those in attendance were the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Olusegun Elemide; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi; traditional rulers, Baales, the Oluwo of Osiele, as well as former Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Chief Semiu Bola Lawal who served as chief host and Hon. Jelili Adewale Adeogun, among other dignitaries.

In his goodwill message, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Olusegun Elemide, congratulated the newly installed monarch and urged the sons and daughters of Akinlagun Camp to rally behind the traditional ruler.

Elemide called on the people to support Oba Fatola in his efforts to promote peace, unity and sustainable development in the community.

He also urged residents to respect the traditional institution and work collectively with the monarch and the government towards the advancement of Akinlagun Camp and Odeda Local Government.

The presentation of the Staff of Office formally marks the recognition of Oba Jimoh Akanji Fatola by the Ogun State Government and further strengthens the traditional institution within Akinlagun Camp.
