Father cries out over missing son after cult attack in Ogun

A distraught father, Bidemi Salau, has raised the alarm over the disappearance of his son, Roheem Salau after a cult-related attack in his Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital home. Salau lamented that his son went missing on February 4, after some suspected cultists invaded his home and reportedly killed his roommate.

Speaking with newsmen in Lagos, the father of two noted that efforts to know the whereabouts of his son, who is also a 100-level student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic have yielded no positive result.

According to him, his son was unknowingly living with suspected cultists in Abeokuta where his campus was located. Salau said he gathered that his son was not at home when the suspected cultists invaded his house in Oshungboye Crescent in Akinolugbade, Abeokuta, and killed two of his roommates.

“I have been looking for him since the February 4 incident. Residents confirmed to us that he was not at home when their home was attacked.

“One of the boys that were killed is my neighbor’s son in Ijoko and he was already in Higher National Diploma (HND)1 when my son gained admission.
“Since he was someone I knew very well and also knew his father, I decided that my son should stay with him for some time.

“I was shocked to hear that he belongs to a cult group and that was the reason he was killed.

“But since the incident, my son has gone into hiding. I haven’t known his whereabouts for over a month and I don’t know what else to do.

“I have reported it to a police station, but nothing has been done. He is still missing. I am appealing to everybody to help me.” Salau, however, appealed to anyone who may have information about his son’s whereabouts to come forward.

The father, who appeared visibly shaken, expressed his concern for his son’s safety. Reacting, spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola said there was no reported case of a missing person, stressing however that the command would follow up on the case.” The DPO said there was no such reported case at his station,” she noted.

Recall that Ogun State Police Command had in February confirmed that its operatives arrested 11 suspects over the cult clashes in different parts of Abeokuta, which claimed four lives.

The Police spokesperson, said one Seun Elewode, a member of the Aye cult group, was killed during a shootout between rival cult groups in the Adeun area of Lafenwa, Abeokuta.

According to her, a suspected member of the Buccaneer Confraternity was also killed in the Akinolugbade area of the town. She added that 11 suspects had been arrested in connection with the killings.
