Apelogun, Olaiya Igwe Hail Ogun Government Over Gateway International Airport
Prominent businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Samsideen Adebayo Apelogun, and veteran Nollywood actor, Mr. Ebun Oloyede, popularly known as Olaiya Igwe, have lauded the Ogun State Government for the successful development of the Gateway International Airport, describing the facility as a transformative project with immense economic and tourism potential.
The duo gave the commendation during a visit to the airport, where they expressed admiration for its modern infrastructure and applauded the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun for delivering what they described as a world-class aviation facility.
Speaking during the visit, Apelogun described the airport as a landmark achievement that would significantly boost trade, investment, and tourism in Ogun State. He noted that the project reflects the government’s commitment to sustainable development and economic growth.
According to him, the airport is strategically positioned to enhance connectivity, attract investors, create employment opportunities, and stimulate commercial activities across different sectors of the state’s economy.
“The Gateway International Airport is a remarkable achievement that reflects vision, determination, and a commitment to progress. It will undoubtedly open new opportunities for investment, commerce, and tourism while strengthening Ogun State’s position as a preferred destination for business,” Apelogun said.
The businessman further recalled his experience as one of the first pilgrims to depart from the airport to Saudi Arabia during the recently concluded 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. He described the direct flight from Iperu to Jeddah as a historic milestone and a testament to the airport’s strategic importance.
Apelogun noted that the seamless travel experience demonstrated the facility’s readiness to handle international operations and contribute meaningfully to the state’s economic aspirations.
Also speaking, renowned actor Olaiya Igwe praised the quality of the airport’s facilities, stating that they compare favourably with international standards. He expressed confidence that the airport would play a significant role in enhancing transportation, promoting tourism, and improving the overall travel experience for residents and visitors.
“This is a project every Ogun indigene should be proud of. It is a symbol of purposeful leadership and strategic investment. The airport has the capacity to place Ogun State prominently on the global aviation map,” he said.
The actor also commended members of staff at the airport for their professionalism, dedication, and excellent customer service, noting that their conduct contributed positively to the experience of passengers.
He urged residents to support and take ownership of the facility, describing it as a legacy project that would benefit future generations and contribute to the continued growth and development of Ogun State.
