Dapo Abiodun Mourns Veteran Actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’, Hails His Legacy of Excellence

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed deep sadness over the death of veteran actor and filmmaker, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.

Governor Abiodun described the death of the Ilaro-born actor as a monumental loss to Ogun State, Nigeria’s creative industry and the nation at large.

In a condolence message issued by the Ogun State Government, Abiodun described Ogogo as more than an accomplished actor, saying he was a shining light whose remarkable talent, discipline and commitment contributed significantly to the promotion of Nigerian culture and the projection of Yoruba heritage to audiences across the world.

The Governor praised the late actor’s exceptional artistry, humility, candour, dignity and professionalism, noting that Ogogo earned the admiration of colleagues, fans and generations of Nigerians throughout his illustrious career.

According to Abiodun, Ogogo remained a proud ambassador of his Ilaro roots and Ogun State, using his career in theatre, film and television to promote and preserve Nigeria’s cultural heritage, particularly the Yoruba language, traditions and values.

The Governor said the actor’s death had created a painful void that would be deeply felt by his immediate family, the people of Ilaro and Ogun State, members of the Nigerian artistic community, as well as his numerous admirers across the country and beyond.

“On behalf of the Ogun State Government and the good people of the state, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues in the creative industry, the people of Ilaro and his numerous fans across Nigeria and beyond,” Abiodun said.

He urged those mourning the veteran actor to draw strength from the remarkable life he lived and the enduring legacy he left through his contributions to the creative industry and cultural development.

“Taiwo Hassan, Ogogo, was a shining light. His voice may have fallen silent, but his works, values and contributions to our cultural heritage will continue to speak for generations.

“He will be sorely missed. May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and give his family and all who mourn him the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the Governor stated.
