Olumide Osoba Distributes Fertilizers to Farmers to Boost Agriculture and Food Security

In a significant effort to enhance agricultural productivity, Hon. Olumide Osoba, a Member of the House of Representatives for Abeokuta North, Obafemi-Owode, Odeda Federal Constituency has distributed bags of fertilizer to over 400 local farmers.
This initiative aims to improve crop yields and support the agricultural and food security in his constituency.
The distribution event attracted a large number of farmers from Odeda, Abeokuta North and Obafemi-Owode Local Government Areas, all eager to receive the much-needed agricultural inputs. This effort underscores Hon. Osoba’s deep understanding of the needs of his constituents, especially at a time when Nigeria is facing a critical need for food security nationwide.
Osoba, while handing over the fertilizers to the farmers in Abeokuta, on Thursday said the gesture is part of the federal government intervention to improve farm yield and to bring down the cost of food items.
The lawmaker who acknowledged the severe impact of government policies on the economy, however, called on the farmers to be patient with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He, therefore, encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the agricultural inputs, adding that the country is in dire need of the farmer’s interventions.
“This distribution of the fertilizers is part of the government’s efforts to ameliorate the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy, we must therefore be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his renewed effort to transform the country”, he said
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abiodun on Inter-Ethnic Affairs and representative of the Arewa community, Hon. Haddi Sani, lauded Hon. Olumide Osoba for taking a good step to encourage farmers in the state.
He emphasized that the country can only grow out of its present situation if government prioritises production palliatives, as against giving out food palliatives to the citizens.
He also expressed his appreciation to the lawmaker for ensuring that the Arewa community benefitted from the fertilizers, assuring that the farmers would put the fertilisers to good use.
“This is the only way to go. Governments must discontinue their food palliatives drive and begin to give attention to production palliatives to farmers, manufacturing companies and other sources of engaging Nigerians in a developmental approach.
The fertilizer distribution is part of a broader agricultural support program initiated by Hon. Olumide Osoba. This program aims to provide farmers with essential inputs and training to improve farming techniques and productivity, to enhance food security and the local economy within his Constituency.
