Ogun LG chairman, AY Shomide Inaugurates Environmental Community Watch officers

The Transition Chairman of Abeokuta South Local government, Hon. Ayodeji Michael Shomide has inaugurated the Environmental Community Watch Force (ECWF) to assist the local government to end the barbaric act of Open defecation and indiscriminate dumping of refuse in unauthorized locations within the Local Government Area on Wednesday 11th March, 2020 at the Council Secretariat.

Hon. Shomide, during the inauguration said that it is high time to put an end to the barbaric act of Open defecation and indiscriminate dumping of refuse in unauthorized locations within the Local Government Area. According to the Council boss, aside the widespread of disease that could emanate from this act, if we fail to take proactive measures, these acts could also lead to flooding. He, however, stressed that the resultant disaster from these acts could be nipped in the bud if necessary preventive measures are taken.

Hon.Shomide, however, enjoined the people of Abeokuta South Local Government to join hands with his administration in its efforts at maintaining a clean and disease free environment. Speaking further, the Chairman advised the members of the ECWF to see their appointment as a call to service, he enjoined them to discharge their duties without fear or favour.

In his own address, Sanitarian Sodeke Emmanuel schooled the Environmental Community Watch Force on how to carry out the assignment given to them.He further explained that, the task assigned to them requires honesty, loyalty, prudency and accountability, ask they (ECWF) are sent out to represent the Council’s interest.

Others in attendance at the meeting were,Mr.Samod Olanrewaju,Vice Chairman,Alh.Nurudeen Ayorinde, Secretary to the Local Government,Mrs.Iyabode Adebanbo,Supervisor for Primary Health Care,Hon. Wale Bakare, Supervisor for Infoy, Youths & Sports and Agricultural Services,Mrs.Adeniregun Bukola,Head of Local Government Administration and Heads of Departments.
