Ogun Government Partners IITA, Ibadan on Agricultural Roadmap

Ogun State Government and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, are set to enter into partnership aimed at providing technological innovations and support to farming and related activities in the various Agricultural Programmes in Ogun State.

A four-man team from the Institute paid a facility visit to the Odeda Farm Institute at Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, on Tuesday, 2nd May, 2020, to assess facilities, which will be the first point of intervention aimed at preparing the institute as a Centre for youth-focused Agricultural training programmes. IITA will support Ogun State Government in establishing demonstrations farms, and also in training of youths/unemployed graduates in Ogun State in various Agribusiness enterprises. This is further aimed at enhancing the Stateโs agenda of job creation and food security through Agriculture.
This is a major achievement in fulfilling one of our Agricultural pillars of intervention relating to Strategic Partnership and Collaboration with International Development Agencies with mandates of generating Agricultural technologies and providing support for farming and related activities.
The visiting IITA team were led by international agronomy experts Dr Richard Okechukwu and Prof Lateef Sanni; while the host team from the Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, led by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Adeola Odedina, had the Permanent Secretary, Dr Dotun Sorunke and other Management officials of the Ministry in attendance.
