Ogun Assembly Celebrates Carol of Nine Lessons, Urges Nigerians to Embody Selflessness
The Ogun State House of Assembly held its annual Carol of Nine Lessons ceremony, with Speaker Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide emphasises the importance of selflessness, love, and sacrifice as exemplified by Jesus Christ. Elemide, who read the ninth lesson from Hebrew 1: verses 1-12, encouraged Nigerians to adopt these values, stressing that God expects the righteous to demonstrate love, giving, and selflessness.
Elemide also called on leaders across all sectors to prioritize the welfare of their people, while advising Nigerians to celebrate the festive season with moderation and restraint. Additionally, he promised that the Assembly would implement more welfare programs for its workforce in the coming year.
The ceremony featured a sermon by Pastor Femi Ogbontigba of the Redeemed Christians Church of God, Ogun Province 15, who described Jesus Christ as a great counsellor and guide who shows mercy in all matters. Other lawmakers, including Deputy Speaker Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi and Honourables Oluseun Adesanya, Babatunde Tella, Damilola Soneye, and Musefiu Lamidi, also participated in the reading of lessons during the service.
