NUJ Ogun Disowns LOYAMP, Says Group Has No Recognition Under Council

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, has distanced itself from the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP), declaring that the group is not a recognized organ, chapel, affiliate or professional association under the council.
In a statement jointly signed by the Ogun State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, and the Secretary, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, the council stated that LOYAMP does not exist within the constitutional structure of the union in Ogun State and therefore lacks the authority or mandate to speak on behalf of journalists or media practitioners in the state.
The council clarified that the only duly recognized NUJ chapel serving the Yewa-Awori axis is the Ota Independent Online Chapel, whose members, it said, are professional journalists of proven integrity providing credible news coverage across the Ogun West Senatorial District.
According to the statement, the NUJ, Ogun State Council, remains the only recognized umbrella body for practicing journalists in the state and will continue to uphold the integrity, ethics and professionalism of the journalism profession.
The council therefore urged members of the public, government institutions, corporate organizations and other stakeholders to disregard any representation by LOYAMP suggesting that it speaks on behalf of journalists or media practitioners under the auspices of the NUJ in Ogun State.
It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the credibility of the journalism profession and ensuring that only duly recognized professional bodies operate under the banner of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in the state.
