Governor Abiodun Eulogises Late Senator Otegbola as Former Lawmaker is Laid to Rest

Ilupeju, Lagos – Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday, paid glowing tributes to the late Senator Ayodeji Otegbola, describing him as a distinguished politician and patriotic Nigerian who devoted his life to public service and national development.
The governor spoke during the funeral service of the former lawmaker, held at the African Church St. Paul’s Cathedral, Lagos East Diocese, Ilupeju, Lagos State.
Governor Abiodun highlighted the late senator’s impactful contributions to Nigeria’s political and economic landscape, both as a member of the Senate in the Third Republic and as a former Chairman of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).
*”He was a man of impeccable character, a distinguished politician, and a patriotic Nigerian who dedicated his life to public service and the development of our dear state and nation at large,”* Abiodun stated. *”His tenure as a Senator and FHA Chairman was marked by diligence and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.”*
The governor also acknowledged Otegbola’s pioneering role in Estate Surveying and Valuation, noting his influence in mentoring young professionals and shaping Nigeria’s real estate sector.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, represented by his wife, Mrs. Bola Obasanjo, praised the late senator as a key figure in Nigeria’s democratic evolution, whose contributions strengthened the nation’s political institutions.
In his sermon, Primate Julius Abbe of the African Church extolled Otegbola’s devotion to God and humanity, recalling his service as the Asiwaju of Aworiland and Baba Ijo of St. Paul’s Cathedral, Ilupeju.
Pa Ayodeji Otegbola passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 91. His legacy of service, leadership, and community impact was celebrated by dignitaries, family members, and associates at the solemn ceremony.
