Ogun Seals Four Industries Over Environmental Violations

In a decisive move to enforce environmental compliance, the Ogun State Government has sealed four industries for violating environmental regulations. The action was carried out by the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) following investigations into various infractions.
The affected companies include:
– Fortune Height Farms Limited (Odogbolu LGA) – Sealed for discharging untreated effluents into the environment following community complaints.
– Sanda Wood Industry Limited (Odogboluu LGA) – Penalized for obstructing regulatory officials and engaging in illegal open burning.
– Shengceramic Material Limited (Ogere, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway) – Shut down for environmental violations.
– Nehemiah Grace Developer Limited (Ijako, Ado-Odo/Ota LGA) – Closed for encroaching on waterways and constructing drainage systems without approval.
Hon. Farouk Akintunde, Special Adviser to the Governor on OGEPA and Chairman of the Ogun State Task Force on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, emphasized the government’s stance:
“The Ogun State Government will not tolerate any form of environmental lawlessness. These sanctions serve as a warning to all industries to operate within approved guidelines or face the consequences.”
The enforcement underscores the state’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection. Authorities have warned that further violations will attract stiffer penalties.
