Ipokia LG Hosts Beneficiary Verification for Renewed Hope Empowerment Programme

IPOKIA – Officials from the Ogun State Cash Transfer Unit were in Ipokia Local Government yesterday to monitor the implementation of the Renewed Hope Household Prosperity and Empowerment Programme, a Federal Government social intervention initiative being executed in partnership with the Ogun State Government.

The verification exercise, held at the Ipokia Local Government Secretariat, saw 2,257 beneficiaries from communities across the local government receive preloaded payment cards containing ₦75,000 each under the current phase of the cash transfer programme.

The state delegation was led by Mr. Falaju Olugbenga, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for the programme, who was accompanied by Mr. Ogungbe Oladipupo, Environmental and Social Officer. The programme is coordinated at the state level by Mr. Damilola Owojuono and is domiciled in the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, under the leadership of Mrs. Funmi Baker.

The Renewed Hope Household Prosperity and Empowerment Programme is designed to provide financial support to vulnerable households, cushioning the effects of prevailing economic challenges while improving the welfare and livelihoods of beneficiaries. The beneficiary database was compiled over several years from communities across the local government to ensure support reaches those most in need.

This marks the fourth phase of the programme’s implementation and forms part of the Federal Government’s continued commitment, in collaboration with the Ogun State Government, to provide targeted assistance to vulnerable Nigerians.

The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, received the state delegation and personally monitored the exercise. He interacted with beneficiaries and observed various stages of the process, including identity verification, card confirmation, PIN activation, and the successful issuance of the preloaded payment cards.

Hon. Avoseh expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the Renewed Hope initiative, which continues to provide meaningful support for vulnerable Nigerians. He equally commended His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON, for complementing the Federal Government’s efforts through the efficient implementation of the programme in Ogun State.

The Chairman noted that the intervention reflects the people-centred philosophy of the Governor’s ISEYA development agenda, particularly in promoting social welfare, economic inclusion, and improved livelihoods at the grassroots.

More than 2,000 beneficiaries attended the exercise, which was conducted in a peaceful and orderly atmosphere. The local government provided a conducive environment and adequate security throughout the programme, ensuring smooth conduct without any security incidents or disruption.

Beneficiaries who were unable to receive or activate their payment cards during the exercise will have another opportunity during the mop-up exercise scheduled for 23 July in Ilaro.

Across Ogun State, more than 23,000 beneficiaries in 11 local governments are benefiting from this phase of the Renewed Hope Household Prosperity and Empowerment Programme.

Speaking after the exercise, many beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and the Ogun State Government for the intervention, describing it as timely support that reflects government’s concern for vulnerable citizens. They expressed gratitude for the opportunity and noted that the programme would provide much-needed relief for their households.
