Olaoluwa For YAYI Empowers 500 in Yewa South, Targets 1,000 More

ILARO — No fewer than 500 residents of Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State have benefited from the Olaoluwa For YAYI Empowerment Programme, an initiative aimed at supporting small-scale businesses and improving the livelihoods of beneficiaries across the local government.

The empowerment programme, sponsored by the Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning and Convener of Olaoluwa For YAYI, Mr. Olaolu Akanbi Olabimtan, was held on September 25, 2025, at Senator YAYI’s Hall, Asade Agunloye Pavilion, Ilaro.

The beneficiaries, drawn from different wards and communities across the Ilaro district and Yewa South, received financial support in batches during the event, which was attended by APC leaders, party members, representatives of various associations and community stakeholders.

Speaking at the programme, Olabimtan thanked party leaders, stakeholders and beneficiaries for their attendance and continued support. He urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the financial assistance by investing it in their businesses and other ventures capable of improving their livelihoods.

Olabimtan also announced plans to extend the initiative to another 1,000 beneficiaries in October, saying the expansion was aimed at reaching more residents across Yewa South.

He further called on beneficiaries and supporters to support APC candidates at the various levels of government in the 2027 elections, particularly the party’s Ogun State governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI.

A major highlight of the event was the display of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) by beneficiaries, who expressed their support for YAYI and the APC.

The programme also provided an opportunity for interactions between beneficiaries, party leaders and other stakeholders, amid cheers and commendations from participants.

Party leaders from across Yewa South commended Olabimtan for the empowerment initiative and acknowledged what they described as his previous interventions in support of party members and residents.

Among those who attended were the former Executive Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Alhaji Sunmola Kayode Adewale; Otunba Adetunji Idowu; APC Chairman, Yewa South Local Government, Hon. Kayode Salako (JP); Dr. Biodun Oluseye; Chief (Mrs.) Iyabode Apampa, represented by Hon. Zacheous Omoloye; Omooba Segun Adewale; and Hon. Sheriff Bankole, Vice Chairman, Yewa South Local Government.

Others included Hon. Abduljabar Ayelagbe, Secretary to the Yewa South Local Government; Alhaji Rauf Akanbi Yusuf, the Akinrogun of Owode-Yewa; Hon. Abioro; as well as other party leaders, members and community stakeholders.

The leaders urged the beneficiaries to use the financial support responsibly and maximise the opportunity to strengthen their businesses.

The event ended with the announcement that an additional 1,000 beneficiaries would be unveiled in October as the Olaoluwa For YAYI empowerment programme expands its reach across Yewa South.
