MD/CEO Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority, Ashiru Bags Special Recognition Award at 4th CEIC 2026

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA), Engr. Dr Adedeji Ashiru, has been conferred with a Special Recognition Award for his selfless contribution to engineering excellence and national development. The honour was presented at the 4th College of Engineering International Conference (CEIC 2026), held at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

The award was bestowed during the closing plenary of the conference in recognition of Engr. Dr Ashiru’s decades of impactful leadership in water resources infrastructure, sustainable engineering practice, and institutional reform.
Speaking on behalf of the organisers, the Chairman of the CEIC 2026 Local Organising Committee, Professor Olusegun Adewale, described the recipient as a model of engineering stewardship.
“Engr. Dr Adedeji Ashiru represents the very best of applied engineering leadership. His work at the Ogun-Osun River Basin Authority has not only advanced irrigation and water supply infrastructure but has also strengthened the link between engineering research and community development. This award is the College’s way of saying thank you for his quiet, consistent and selfless push for engineering excellence,” Prof. Adewale said.
In his acceptance remarks, a visibly humbled Engr. Dr Ashiru dedicated the recognition to his team at the Authority and to the next generation of engineers.
“I receive this honour with deep gratitude, not as a personal trophy but as a call to do even more. Engineering, to me, has always been about service—designing solutions that outlive us and lifting others as we climb. I want to thank the College of Engineering, FUNAAB, for this platform and for keeping the flame of rigorous, development-focused research burning brightly. Together, we will continue to build systems that work for our farmers, our communities, and our nation,” the MD/CEO said.
The 4th College of Engineering International Conference, themed “Engineering Innovation for Resilient Food Systems and Sustainable Infrastructure,” brought together researchers, industry captains, and policymakers from across Africa and beyond. The award session was one of the high points of the week-long programme held at the FUNAAB campus in Abeokuta.
