Oyesile Steps Down from 2027 House of Reps Race, Backs Osoba for Unity

Hon. Bolaji Oloyede Oyesile, popularly known as BJ, has withdrawn from the 2027 House of Representatives race for the Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency, citing the need for party unity and continued progress in the area.

In a statement issued on Monday, Oyesile revealed that his decision followed a crucial stakeholders’ meeting on April 26 and a subsequent private meeting with Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi). He said the senator made a “brotherly appeal” for him to step aside in support of Hon. Olumide Osoba’s candidacy, an appeal he carefully considered and accepted in the collective interest of the constituency and the future of Ogun State.
Describing the move as difficult but necessary, Oyesile stressed that true leadership demands sacrifice and a steadfast commitment to the greater good above personal ambition. He said his withdrawal was guided by a deep belief in unity, divine purpose, and the long-term development of the constituency.
The former aspirant expressed profound gratitude to his campaign team for their unwavering dedication, and extended heartfelt appreciation to supporters across Abeokuta North, Obafemi Owode, and Odeda Local Government Areas. He gave special recognition to the Ward Chairmen and party stakeholders across the three councils, highlighting the unanimous endorsement received from Obafemi Owode as well as the solidarity demonstrated in Abeokuta North and Odeda.
Oyesile further appreciated the leadership of party elders and stakeholders within the federal constituency and conveyed his deepest thanks to Senator Adeola for his leadership, wisdom, and commitment to peace. He prayed for continued divine guidance for the senator as he prepares for greater service to Ogun State.
Reaffirming his commitment to the progress of the constituency and the state, Oyesile urged all supporters and stakeholders to embrace unity and rally behind decisions that will strengthen the party and deliver sustainable development.
“This is not the end, but the beginning of a new chapter of service and dedication to our people,” he stated.
He concluded with prayers for God’s blessings on the Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency, Ogun State, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
