Ogun Approves ₦50,000 Palliative for 3,050 Corps Members, Donates 500 Mattresses to NYSC Camp

The Ogun State Government has approved a ₦50,000 welfare palliative for each of the 3,050 members of the 2026 Batch C, Stream I of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) undergoing their orientation programme at the state’s orientation camp in Sagamu.

The intervention, approved by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration, is aimed at easing the financial burden on corps members amid prevailing economic challenges and enhancing their welfare during the orientation exercise. Disbursement of the funds commenced on Monday, with each eligible corps member expected to receive ₦50,000 to cater for personal and essential needs.

In addition to the financial support, the state government has approved the donation of 500 mattresses to the NYSC orientation camp in Sagamu to improve accommodation and provide a more comfortable environment for corps members.

The interventions come amid an increase in the number of corps members deployed to Ogun State, necessitating further investment in camp facilities and essential amenities.

The government noted that corps members play significant roles in national development through their contributions to education, healthcare and community development, while promoting national unity and cultural integration.

It reaffirmed its commitment to improving the welfare of corps members and upgrading camp facilities to meet growing demands, while encouraging the participants to uphold discipline, patriotism, tolerance and selfless service throughout their service year.

The statement was signed by the Commissioner for Sports Development, Wasiu Isiaka.
