Veteran Police Officer, ACP Ayodele Fadairo (‘Aunty Ayo Lalagbon’), Passes On
Lagos, Nigeria – The Nigerian police force has lost a seasoned officer and a legendary figure, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ayodele Fadairo, popularly known as ‘Aunty Ayo Lalagbon’. She passed away yesterday, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and compassion.
ACP Fadairo gained national recognition for her exceptional kindness towards detained music legend, Orlando Owoh, during his time at the notorious Alagbon Police Station in the 1990s. Owoh, who died in 2008, immortalized Fadairo’s benevolence in his hit song “Alagbon”, which sold over 5 million copies and remains an evergreen classic.
In the iconic album, Owoh effusively praised Aunty Ayo for her tenderness and care during his detention, describing her as a beacon of hope amidst the harsh conditions. The Alagbon Police Station, notoriously referred to as the ‘Colombian Den’, was feared for its harsh treatment of suspects, earning a reputation as a ‘Hell on Earth’.
Fadairo’s passing marks the end of an era and reunites her with Orlando Owoh in eternal glory, 16 years after his demise.
Tributes have begun pouring in for the respected police officer, with many praising her exceptional service and compassionate nature.
As the nation mourns the loss of ACP Ayodele Fadairo, her legacy serves as a reminder of the transformative power of kindness and compassion, even in the most challenging environments.
Rest in peace, Aunty Ayo Lalagbon.
