Senator Salisu Hails Governor Abiodun’s Mother, Victoria Abiodun, on 90th Birthday
Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu (OMOYAYI), FNCS, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, has conveyed heartfelt felicitations to Mrs Victoria O. Abiodun, the mother of Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, as she gracefully attains the age of 90.
In a statement released on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Senator Salisu described Mrs Abiodun as an “endearing mother” and celebrated her “awesome life of wide impact with many great accomplishments.”
The Senator highlighted Mrs Abiodun’s significant contributions to the education sector, noting that her “unblemished records of service with dedication and honour have become reference materials in archives across States in the Old Western region.” He praised her not only for sowing seeds of knowledge but also for instilling strong values in countless young minds, many of whom are now prominent figures globally.
Senator Salisu further stated that the successful lives of her progeny, particularly that of Governor Dapo Abiodun, are a “shining testament to the transformative power of a mother’s carefully balanced mix of love, discipline, values and virtues.”
He expressed his honour in serving under the Governor’s leadership, which has allowed him to witness firsthand Mrs Abiodun’s continued “value reinforcement” characteristic of renowned teachers, even at an advanced age.
“It is obvious that your love and prayers have been pivotal to his triumphs, particularly at critical moments in the life of our dear Governor,” the Senator said. He added that the merited sobriquets of Omoluabi and Omo Teacher, with which Governor Abiodun is widely known, are a confirmation of his status as a “worthy symbol of the family values” and Mrs Abiodun’s “enduring legacy as the Matriarch.”
Senator Salisu also acknowledged Mrs Abiodun’s deep devotion and service to God, citing her role as the Iya Egbe Aya Bishop of St. James Anglican Church, Iperu-Remo.
On the occasion of her 90th birthday, the Senator respectfully requested Mama Victoria Abiodun to “step out in your usual graceful gait, elegance, and dance steps reminiscent of yesteryears” to celebrate with family, well-wishers, and biological and non-biological children ready to “bask in the atmosphere of pomp and pageantry.”
Concluding his message, Senator Salisu offered a prayer for God to preserve the celebrant for many more years in good health, enabling her to remain a source of inspiration, wisdom, and a pillar of support to all.
